This project is a joint effort with the City of Cape Coral. On June 21, 2016, the Board of County Commissioners approved an Interlocal Agreement with the City to outline the funding arrangements for design, right-of-way acquisition and construction of the project. The City and County will jointly fund all costs for this project, except the added alignment study of Littleton Road from Corbett Road to US 41, which will be entirely funded by the County, with the County handling the majority of the management of all the phases.
On February 21, 2017 the Board approved the ranking of firms by the Competitive Negotiation Committee for CN160495/DLK Kismet/Littleton Realignment and approved the award of the Professional Services Agreement to AIM Engineering & Surveying (Consultant) to prepare a roadway alignment study for the realignment of Kismet Parkway and Littleton Road at NE 24th Avenue. The Consultant was also contracted to analyze alternative alignments and determine the right-of-way required for the future widening of Littleton Road to US 41.

As part of the realignment study a public workshop was held on January 9, 2018 with 62 attendees. Of the 25 written comment forms received, the majority were in favor of the Southern Alternative.

On February 14, 2018 a presentation was given to the City of Cape Coral Technical Advisory Committee recommending the southern alignment (modified with input from stakeholders) and was unanimously recommended to be brought before the Cape Coral City Council for endorsement.

The roadway alignment study for the realignment of Kismet Parkway and Littleton Road at NE 24th Avenue is on the City of Cape Coral City Council agenda for the March 5, 2018 meeting.
After the evaluations and public input, the recommended realignment of Kismet Parkway and Littleton Road at NE 24th Avenue is the modified Southern Alternative per the Littleton Road/Kismet Parkway at NE 24th Avenue Realignment Study dated February 2018. The conceptual design calls for widening the existing two-lane roadway section on Littleton Road to four lanes in order to match the 4-lane roadway section of Kismet Parkway. It also includes on-road bike lanes and 6-foot-wide sidewalks on both sides of the travel way.
Once the recommended alignment is approved by the Board, funding is available in the current fiscal year to initiate the final design/permitting/right-of-way phase, with construction planned for in FY 2018/19.
