Approves extending an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Fort Myers to provide fire protection services to the Maravilla Municipal Services Taxing Unit (MSTU) and Marvaez, an  area located south of Hanson Street, east of Cleveland Avenue, north of Carrell Road and west of Central Avenue. The extension is for effective for the period October 1, 2024 through September 30, 2025. The rate is based on final taxable value provided by Property Appraiser at the millage rate of 2.0000.
III.BACKGROUND AND IMPLICATIONS OF ACTION
 A)Board Action and Other History
The County entered into an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Fort Myers (Contract No. 765) in 1987 to provide fire prevention service to the Maravilla and Marvaez areas. This area is located south of Hanson Street, east of Cleveland Avenue, north of Carrell Road and west of Central Avenue. The extension provides a millage within the MSTU to be levied at the same rate as the fire protection assessment for the City of Fort Myers. The millage rate will be based on the final taxable value provided by the Property Appraiser using a millage rate of 2.0000 mills. To determine the rate for the Maravilla/Marvaez area, the Fire Department staff calculated the approximate millage rate paid by City residents specific to Fire Department Services based on current taxable property values at 95% and the Fire Department's annual operating budget. This Extension to the Interlocal Agreement between Lee County and the City of Fort Myers is effective October 1, 2024 through September 30, 2025.
