TITLE:	Conduct Public Hearing Adopting Resolution to Certify FY25 Annual Solid Waste Special Assessments

I.	MOTION REQUESTED
	Conduct a Public Hearing for the Board of County Commissioners to adopt and certify, by Resolution, the Residential and Commercial Mandatory Solid Waste Collection and Disposal Annual Special Assessment Roll and Disposal Facilities Special Assessment Roll to the Lee County Tax Collector for collection for Fiscal Year 2024–2025.

ITEM SUMMARY

This Public Hearing sends the previously approved solid waste rates to the Lee County Tax Collector for certification, adoption, and collection. This is a non-ad valorem assessment of the Residential and Commercial Solid Waste Collection and the Disposal Annual Special Assessment Roll and Disposal Facilities Special Assessment Roll for Fiscal Year 24–25. Complies with applicable Lee County Ordinances, Florida Administrative Code and Florida Statutes.

BACKGROUND AND IMPLICATIONS OF ACTION

	A)	Board Action and Other History
		On August 6, 2024, Lee County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution to approve the Residential and Commercial Solid Waste Disposal and Solid Waste System Assessment rates for Fiscal Year 2024-2025. Lee County Ordinances 11-27 and 96-09 as amended, Fla. Admin Code 12D-18.006 and Section 197.3632, Florida Statutes, require adoption and certification by Resolution, the Residential and Commercial Solid Waste Annual Special Assessment Roll and Disposal Facilities Special Assessment Roll for collection by the Lee County Tax Collector for Fiscal Year 2024-2025. The Board of County Commissioners must certify the official assessment roll (received from the Property Appraiser) to the Lee County Tax Collector on or before September 10th of each calendar year so that the assessments will be properly included within the tax bills issued by the Tax Collector.
