| TITLE: | Accept Grant Funding from FutureMakers Coalition for EMS Training |

| | | | | | | | I. | MOTION REQUESTED | | A) Accept grant funds in the amount of $300,734.50 from the Southwest Florida Community Foundation, Inc. DBA Collaboratory (“Collaboratory”) FutureMakers Coalition to be used for enhancement of EMS training programs
B) Authorize the Chair to execute the required Work Agreement between Lee County and Southwest Florida Community Foundation, Inc. DBA Collaboratory (“Collaboratory”) FutureMakers Coalition.
C) Approve a Budget Amendment Resolution to accept the grant funds for FY24/25 in the amount of $300,734.50 and approve an expenditure of like amount.

| | | | | | | | II. | ITEM SUMMARY | | Approves accepting $300,734.50 in grant funding from the Southwest Florida Community Foundation, Inc. DBA Collaboratory FutureMakers Coalition for Lee County EMS. The awarded funding will support programs to expand job training for existing employees in areas like critical care management, EMS leadership, healthcare improvement, and other associated disciplines. The training and reimbursement of costs must occur before the expiration of the funding and agreement, which is May 31, 2025. |

| | | | | | | | | A) | Board Action and Other History | | | Lee County Public Safety applied for and was awarded funding from the FutureMakers Coalition for EMS job training in the amount of $300,734.50. This funding expands the training that will be offered to employees through the end of 2024 and into mid-2025. The courses seek to expand the job skills, and are in areas such as critical care patient management, leadership training, and healthcare improvement. The total number of employees scheduled to be trained is 101.
The grant is a cost reimbursement award, and the budget resolution will create a separate grant account for tracking and reimbursement of these costs. There is no match required of the county.
