| | TITLE: | Accept Annual Emergency Management Performance Grant Funds from FDEM |

| | | | | | | | | I. | MOTION REQUESTED | | | A) Accept grant funds in the amount of $169,368.00 from the State of Florida, Division of Emergency Management to be used for enhancement of the County’s Emergency Management program.
B) Authorize the Chair to approve and execute the required State-Funded Subgrant Agreement between Lee County and the State of Florida, Division of Emergency Management.
C) Approve a Budget Amendment Resolution to accept the grant funds into the General Fund for the FY 23/24 in the amount of $169,368.00 and approve expenditures of a like amount.

| | | | | | | | | II. | ITEM SUMMARY | | | This item requests approval to accept grant funding in the amount of $169,368.00 from the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) for Lee County’s Emergency Management program to support preparedness efforts and operations. The Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has allocated the funds from the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) to supplement and augment emergency management and preparedness activities. |

| | | | | | | | | | A) | Board Action and Other History | | | | The U.S. Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is authorized to make grants for the purpose of providing a system of emergency preparedness for the protection of life and property in the United States from hazards and to vest responsibility for emergency preparedness jointly in the Federal Government, states, and their political subdivisions. The EMPG program provides necessary direction, coordination, guidance, and assistance to support a comprehensive all hazards emergency preparedness system. The Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) acts as the recipient of these funds and has provided a grant to Lee County for the yearly allocation of these funds to further the County’s emergency management program augmenting preparedness and operations. Lee County Emergency Management uses these funds to maintain the County’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) facility, further preparedness training, and develop emergency operations plans. |
