TITLE:	Approve Agreement and Adopt Resolution for Statewide Mutual Aid with FDEM

I.	MOTION REQUESTED
	A. Approve an Agreement between the Board of County Commissioners and the Florida Division of Emergency Management for participation in the Statewide Mutual Aid Agreement. B. Approve a resolution confirming the Board's adoption of the Statewide Mutual Aid Agreement. C. Authorize the Chair to execute documents on behalf of the Board.

ITEM SUMMARY

Approves an agreement and a resolution to continue the County's participation in the Statewide Mutual Aid Agreement. The agreement is coordinated by the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM), and this new version supersedes previous documents, which have been widely circulated and modified. FDEM has asked all signatories to the agreement to execute this new version, dated 2023. There are no substantive changes to the agreement, liability clauses, or responsibilities of the County.

BACKGROUND AND IMPLICATIONS OF ACTION

	A)	Board Action and Other History
		The Emergency Management Act, chapter 252, Florida Statutes, provides each local government of the state the authority to develop and enter into mutual aid agreements within the state for reciprocal emergency aid in case of emergencies too extensive to be dealt with unassisted, and through such agreements ensure the timely reimbursement of costs incurred by the local governments which render such assistance. This agreement replaces all previous versions of the Statewide Mutual Aid Agreement and contains consistent terms and conditions. There are no substantive changes to the County's liability, reimbursement, or other terms for participation in the agreement.
