TITLE:Approve Change Order for the Roundabout Design at Gateway Blvd. & Griffin Dr. 

I.MOTION REQUESTED
 

A) Approve Change Order No. 2 to Supplemental Task Authorization No. 2 under Contract No. 7695 with Cardno, Inc., under CN160311, Miscellaneous Professional Services, for the design of a fountain at the Gateway Boulevard and Griffin Drive Roundabout, in the negotiated amount of $153,822.00.
B) Authorize the County Manager or Designee to approve the Change Order on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners.

II.ITEM SUMMARY
 Approves a Change Order to the Supplemental Task Authorization (STA) with Cardno, Inc., for the design of a fountain in the proposed roundabout at Gateway Boulevard and Griffin Drive in the negotiated amount of $153,822.00. The Gateway Services Community Development District (GSCDD) has agreed to operate and maintain the fountain once installed. LCDOT staff worked with the design engineer that is completing the roundabout design to negotiate a cost to incorporate a fountain in the roundabout. Construction costs of the feature are expected to add $500,000 to the project.
III.BACKGROUND AND IMPLICATIONS OF ACTION

  On December 6, 2016, the Board of County Commissioners awarded Competitive Negotiation No. CN160311, Miscellaneous Professional Services, to 21 firms, including Cardno, Inc., for use on an as needed, project specific basis for professional services countywide.

On March 19, 2021, the Board of County Commissioners approved Supplemental Task Authorization No. 2 under Contract No. 7695 with Cardno, Inc., under CN160311, Miscellaneous Professional Services, for the design, permitting, and post design services of Gateway Boulevard and Griffin Drive Intersection Improvements, in a not to exceed amount of $153,822.00.

  The Gateway Services Community Development District (GSCDD) has asked Lee County Department of Transportation to consider constructing a water feature at the roundabout of Gateway Boulevard and Griffin Drive. The GSCDD has agreed to maintain the addition of a water feature if Lee County will construct it. Estimated construction costs for the fountain are $500,000.
