TITLE:	Approve Lease Agreement with Boca Grande Historical Society

I.	MOTION REQUESTED
	Approve lease agreement with The Boca Grande Historical Society, Inc., to operate a historical museum in a portion of the Teacherage Building at Boca Grande Community Park.

ITEM SUMMARY

Approve lease agreement which allows The Boca Grande Historical Society, Inc., a non-profit corporation, to operate a historical museum in the county's Teacherage Building at the Boca Grande Community Park. The Board of County Commissioners approved the initial lease agreement January 17, 2006, which will expire December 31, 2021. The term of this lease agreement is for a period of five years ending December 2026, with an option to renew for one additional five year term. The lease rate is $1 per year.

BACKGROUND AND IMPLICATIONS OF ACTION

	A)	Board Action and Other History
		The County owns the Teacherage Building at the Boca Grande Community Park in which The Boca Grande Historical Society have been operating the historical museum. The Board approved the initial lease agreement January 17, 2006, which will expire December 31, 2021. The initial term of this lease agreement is for a period of five years ending December 2026, with an option to renew for one additional five year term.

		The Boca Grande Historical Society, Inc. has demonstrated the ability to present the history of Boca Grande and "Old Florida" to visitors and residents of Lee County by preserving and displaying artifacts that captures the history of the local area.
