TITLE:Approve MSTBU Interagency Agreements with Tax Collector and Property Appraiser's Office 

I.MOTION REQUESTED
 Approve and execute interagency agreements between Lee County Board of County Commissioners and Lee County Tax Collector, and Lee County Property Appraiser's office.
II.ITEM SUMMARY
 Section 197.3632, Florida Statutes, requires the Board to enter into interlocal agreements with the Tax Collector and the Property Appraiser to provide for reimbursement of necessary administrative costs incurred in the course of administering non-ad valorem assessments for Municipal Service Benefit Units.

The Office of Municipal Services Taxing Benefit Unit (MSTBU) has used this method of collecting Non-Ad Valorem Special Assessments for its capital improvement program since December 2013. The use of the Uniform Method of Collection (Tax Roll) is authorized by Florida Statutes §197.3632.

 

Interlocal agreements with the Property Appraiser and Tax Collector are required for the following new Municipal Service Benefit Units:

 

a) Sunset Cove Channel Marker Operation and Maintenance Special Improvement Unit  Established by Ordinance No. 18-13, on April 03, 2018.

 

b) Telegraph Creek Bridge Repair Operation and Maintenance Special Improvement Unit. Established by Ordinance No. 18-24, on November 06, 2018.
