TITLE:Accept $20,470 in Grant Funds from the Office of the Attorney General 

I.MOTION REQUESTED
 

A)  Execute Grant Award Agreement from the Office of the Attorney General.

B)  Approve budget resolution to increase FY 2018-2019 budget by $20,470.

C)  Authorize Department Director to approve future informal modifications that do not impact the amount or the intent of the Agreement.

II.ITEM SUMMARY
 

Approval allows the receipt of funds to provide individualized financial counseling to households accessing emergency assistance. Households will be provided with opportunities to learn basic financial literacy terminology and positive financial behaviors. An estimated 15 households will increase their financial stability because of these funds.

III.BACKGROUND AND IMPLICATIONS OF ACTION
 A)Board Action and Other History
  

The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) announced a multi-state settlement with Western Union. Under the settlement, funds were to be used in states for programs promoting financial literacy. In Florida, those funds were disbursed to agencies delivering Community Services Block Grants allocations. Lee County Human and Veteran Services administers these funds in Lee County, and was selected to receive $20,470 in accordance with the settlement.

 B)Policy Issues
  Lee County Administrative Code 3-17 requires Board approval for all grant awards and Admin Code 3-6 addresses increasing budget. 
 C)BoCC Goals
  Funding addresses human service needs in Lee County.

VI.TIMING/IMPLEMENTATION
 Funds will be made available upon the Boards execution of the agreement.  Human and Veteran Services will administer program and serve households through January 1, 2020. 
VII.FOLLOW UP
 Annual reports will be submitted by Human and Veteran Services staff on January 1, 2019 and January 1, 2020.
