TITLE:Approve Piggyback for Purchase of Freightliner Medium and Heavy Trucks 
I.MOTION REQUESTED
  Approve Piggyback No. PB190400MBP to utilize pricing on the State of Florida Contract No. 25101600-16-1 Medium and Heavy Trucks, for the purchase of nine Freightliner trucks, from Tampa Truck Center, LLC, in the total amount of $1,052,544.80 as follows:

    1. 2019 Freightliner M2-112 (Qty. 3) OX 18 yard steel (17 ton) dump body dump truck with customized options for the cost of $339,974.70.

    2. 2019 Freightliner M2-106 (Qty. 1) 2000 Gallon Water Body ILO standard water truck with customized options for the cost of $99,689.04.

    3. 2019 Freightliner M2-106 (Qty. 1) Brush Hawg Grapple ILO standard body grapple truck with customized options for the cost of $166,269.42.

    4. 2019 Freightliner M2-106 (Qty. 1) Conibear Sand Spreader, ILO standard flatbed dump body spreader box truck with customized options for the cost of $125,601.75.

    5. 2019 Freightliner M2-106 (Qty. 1) 16FT Trash Dump, ILO standard landscape dump truck with customized options for the cost of $85,889.04.

    6. 2019 Freightliner M2-112 (Qty. 1) OX 18 yard steel (20 ton) dump body dump truck with customized options for the cost of $113,457.90.

    7. 2019 Freightliner M2-112 (Qty. 1) WELN 3-line Pump Wetline System truck tractor with customized options for the cost of $121,662.96.


II.ITEM SUMMARY
  Authorizes Lee County Fleet Management to utilize pricing on the State of Florida Contract No. 25101600-16-1 for the purchase of nine Freightliner medium and heavy trucks from Tampa Truck Center LLC, in a total amount of $1,052,544.80. This purchase allows DOT to replace eight trucks and Parks and Recreation to replace one truck that have reached the end of useful life. This is a planned and budgeted expenditure for Fiscal Year 2018-2019. All of the trucks are between 14 and 17 years old with high mileage or high maintenance costs, or both, and decreasing reliability (see attached equipment sheets).
III.BACKGROUND AND IMPLICATIONS OF ACTION

   Lee County Fleet Management submitted a request to Procurement Management to piggyback the existing State of Florida Contract No. 25101600-16-1, which went through a competitive bid process, to purchase three Freightliner M2-112 dump trucks, one Freightliner M2-106 water truck, one Freightliner  M2-106 grapple truck, one Freightliner M2-106 spreader box truck, one Freightliner M2-106 landscape dump truck, one Freightliner M2-112 dump truck, and one Freightliner M2-112 truck tractor for a total amount of $1,052,544.80 from Tampa Truck Center LLC, a contracted vendor.  Procurement Management reviewed the contract and determined it is eligible for piggyback. 

Approval of Piggyback No. PB190400MBP allows the County to utilize the contract pricing for purchases to replace nine vehicles that have reached the end of useful life.

  Approval of this item will permit the purchase of nine replacement Freightliner trucks, eight of which will be utilized by DOT and one to be utilized by Parks and Recreation. These new trucks will replace existing trucks in their Fleet that have become too costly to maintain due to age and wear. The condition of this equipment has adversely impacted productivity due to longer than normal down time.
