| | | | | | | | III. | BACKGROUND AND IMPLICATIONS OF ACTION |
|
| | | | | | | | | A) | Board Action and Other History | | | On May 15, 2018, the Board of County Commissioners awarded a contract under Invitation to Bid No. B180113LAC, Burnt Store Road Widening – Middle Segment, to Wright Construction Group, Inc. for the widening of the Central Segment of Burnt Store Road in the total amount of $6,742,595.11.
Addressing residential requests to accelerate roadway lighting and bus stop safety, a Commissioner request was made on April 16, 2019. This approval should enable the lighting installation to begin in September 2019 rather than June 2020 as planned and bid with the final phase of construction. The prices submitted are in line with Florida Department of Transportation's statewide costs database and slightly less than our Engineer of Record's opinion of probable cost.
Board approval is requested for Change Order No. 1 to add the lighting for the North and Central segments of Burnt Store Road to Wright Construction’s contract for the widening of the Central segment of Burnt Store Road.
The Department of Transportation requests that the Board waive the formal procurement process requirements of Lee County Ordinance No. 18-22 for addition of corridor lighting to the North and Central Segments and that this work should be added to Wright Construction’s contract via Change Order.
