TITLE:	Approve Board Direction from Feb. 19 Workshop on Waterway Estates Property

I.	MOTION REQUESTED
	Approve consensus direction from the February 19, 2019 Board workshop on disposition of the Waterway Estates Property by developing an Invitation to Negotiate that will solicit developer proposals.

II.	ITEM SUMMARY
	At its February 19, 2019 workshop on the county’s Waterway Estates Property, the Board discussed developing an Invitation to Negotiate to solicit developer proposals for the property based on current entitlements (marine facilities uses). This agenda item formally approves that consensus direction.

BACKGROUND AND IMPLICATIONS OF ACTION

	A)	Board Action and Other History
		The Waterway Estates Property surrounding a county wastewater treatment plant was acquired in 2007 in anticipation of the plant being expanded. Alternatives to the plant expansion were presented in January 2009 and in June 2010 an agreement was approved with the Florida Governmental Utility Authority to interconnect with its North Fort Myers plant. The interconnect was completed and the Waterway Estates Plant decommissioned and demolished in August 2013. Currently the site is unused and vacant.

		Staff will develop an Invitation to Negotiate and keep the Board apprised of timeframes as the process continues. The Board will ultimately decide the final disposition of the property, and any final proposals will be brought before the Board for further discussion and direction.
