TITLE:Approve Piggyback to Purchase Mack Road Tractors from Nextran Truck Centers 

I.MOTION REQUESTED
 A) Authorize purchase from Nextran Truck Centers utilizing Florida Sheriffs Association Cooperative Purchasing Program Contract FSA18-VEH16.0. Base Vehicle: 52,000 LB GVWR CAB & CHASSIS - 4X6 TANDEM AXLE TRACTOR (ONLY) (Specification #14) Mack PI64T. MFG. Standard White. Black Frame & Run Gear, in a total amount $364,212.36.
II.ITEM SUMMARY
 Authorize purchase of three Mack Road Tractors from Nextran Truck Centers utilizing Florida Sheriffs Association Cooperative Purchasing Program Contract FSA18-, VEH16.0 in a total amount $364,212.36. This expenditure is a budgeted item to replace two aged units and one new unit needed to manage the increased volumes of waste materials being processed in Lee and Hendry Counties.
III.BACKGROUND AND IMPLICATIONS OF ACTION

  Approve piggyback of Florida Sheriffs Association Contract # FSA18-VEH16.0 for the purchase of three vehicles, Base Vehicle: 52,000 LB GVWR CAB & CHASSIS - 4X6 TANDEM AXLE TRACTOR (ONLY) (Specification #14) Mack PI64T. MFG. Standard White. Black Frame & Run Gear, which went through a competitive purchasing process. Procurement Management reviewed the contract and determined it is eligible for piggyback. Purchases from Nextran Truck Centers is in a total amount of $364,212.36. This equipment is budgeted for FY19 and used to transport waste materials between collection, processing, and disposal facilities in Lee and Hendry Counties. Two of the units are replacements for existing assets; the overall condition and economic viability of these units have been evaluated based on age, equipment hours, and maintenance history. The third vehicle to needed to manage the increased volumes of waste materials being managed and processed in Lee and Hendry Counties.

  This equipment is budgeted for FY19 and used to transport waste materials between collection, processing, and disposal facilities in Lee and Hendry Counties. Two of the units are replacements for existing assets. The overall condition and economic viability of these units has been evaluated based on age, equipment hours, and maintenance history. These units are over 12 years old with over 500,000 miles, extensive mechanical issues, and have incurred historical maintenance costs that exceed the value of the equipment. The third unit is new and is needed to manage the increased volumes of waste materials being managed and processed in Lee and Hendry Counties. Budget impacts will include ongoing maintenance costs following the equipment warranty periods.
