Approve an Interlocal Agreement between City of Cape Coral and Lee County for six (6) existing Lee County Emergency Medical Services facilities within the fire stations located at 24610 Coronado Pkwy. (EMS Station 4), 4107 Pelican Blvd. (EMS Station 14), 1029 Diplomat Pkwy. (EMS Station 24), 707 SW 1st St. (EMS Station 28), 1627 Everest Pkwy. (EMS Station 30) and 4540 Chiquita Blvd. (EMS Station 36). The yearly rental cost is $108,000.00.

Authorize Chair to execute the Interlocal Agreement on behalf of the Board.

Authorize County Lands to handle all documentation necessary to complete the transaction.

| | | | | | | | | D) | Analysis | | | The Interlocal Agreement between Lee County and the City of Cape Coral is for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) staff’s use of shared space at the fire stations located at 24610 Coronado Pkwy. (EMS Station 4), 4107 Pelican Blvd. (EMS Station 14), 1029 Diplomat Pkwy. (EMS Station 24), 707 SW 1st St. (EMS Station 28), 1627 Everest Pkwy. (EMS Station 30) and 4540 Chiquita Blvd. (EMS Station 36).
The term of this Interlocal Agreement is for five years with up to five (5) one-year renewal periods. Beginning the second year of the initial term, and annually thereafter, the rent will increase by two percent (2%) per year. The Interlocal Agreement can be terminated by either party with no less than one (1) year prior written notice, in whole or as to each individual EMS Station. The yearly rental cost is $108,000 (previous lease rate was $95,588.33).
These locations house EMS Stations 4, 14, 24, 28, 30, and 36 in the City of Cape Coral. The location of these facilities allows EMS ambulances to respond to emergencies in a manner consistent with the requirements of Ordinance 08-16.
The proposed Interlocal Agreement was approved by the City of Cape Coral on December 3, 2018. |
