TITLE:Approve the Purchase of Repairs and Replacement Parts for Existing Compost Structures 

I.MOTION REQUESTED
 A) Approve single source procurement, Single Source No. SS180295MKP for the purchase of repairs and replacement parts for existing composting structures from Legacy Building Solutions, Inc. in the total estimated amount of $619,496.00.
B) Authorize the Chair to execute the contract documents on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners.
II.ITEM SUMMARY
 Approves a single source purchase with Legacy Building Solutions, Inc. for the repair of and replacements to existing composting structures originally built by Legacy Building Solutions, Inc. Legacy Building Solutions utilizes a patented building technology during manufacturing and a special construction method during installation, which is proprietary to the vendor. The scope of services includes the repair and re-certification of existing engineered buildings and foundations to the original design. These structures were damaged by Hurricane Irma and the repairs are necessary to restore the composting structures to their original state. The estimated cost of these repairs is $619,496.00. Construction is anticipated February – June 2019.

  On April 25, 2018, Procurement Management received a request for the Single/Sole Source purchase of repairs and replacement parts for existing structures from Legacy Building Solutions, the exclusive provider of the patented items.

Procurement Management advertised the Request for Interest for Sole Source No. SS180295MKP from April 17, 2018 - April 25, 2018 for the repair and replacement parts manufactured by Legacy Building Solutions. No responses were received.

Staff recommends approval of the sole source procurement method for the purchase of repairs of existing composting structures by Legacy Building Solutions.

  The repairs will include the replacement of 1/2 of the steel frames, roof fabric, kickers, brackets and end walls on buildings 7 and 8 of the composting structures damaged during Hurricane Irma.
