TITLE:Approve Resolution of Intent for Collection of Non-Ad Valorem Special Assessment 

I.MOTION REQUESTED
 Approve the Resolution of Intent electing to use the Uniform Method of Collecting Non-Ad Valorem Special Assessments for five capital MSBU projects:  (1) Cherry Estates Side Streets Road Paving; (2) Marina/Coral  Circle Channel Dredging; (3) Oak Creek Road Paving; (4) Sunset Cove Dredging and (5) Telegraph Creek Bridge Repair.
II.ITEM SUMMARY
 

Section 197.3632, Florida Statutes, requires the Board to approve a Resolution of Intent prior to January 1, 2019 for the option to use the Uniform Method of Collection for Non-Ad Valorem Special Assessments on the following November tax bill. This will allow for the collection of assessments related to five (5) MSTBU projects: Cherry Estates Side Streets Road Paving; Marina/Coral Circle Channel Dredging; Oak Creek Road Paving; Sunset Cove Channel Dredging, and Telegraph Creek Bridge Repair.

III.BACKGROUND AND IMPLICATIONS OF ACTION

  The Office of Municipal Services Taxing Benefit Unit (MSTBU) has used this method of collecting Non-Ad Valorem Special Assessments, for its capital improvement program.   The use of the Uniform Method of Collection (Tax Roll) is authorized by Florida Statutes 197.3632. 

 

This Public Hearing will consider allowing the special assessment for the following newly created and/or completed projects 1) Cherry Estates Side Streets Road Paving; (2) Marina/Coral  Circle Channel Dredging; (3) Oak Creek Road Paving; (4) Sunset Cove Dredging and (5) Telegraph Creek Bridge Repair.
