TITLE:	Approve Grant Agreement with FDOT for Intersection Improvements on Gunnery Rd

I.	MOTION REQUESTED
	Approve and authorize the Chair to execute the attached Local Agency Program Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation for intersection safety improvements at Gunnery Road and 8^th Street S.W.

II.	ITEM SUMMARY
	Execution of this Agreement grants Lee County with $1,224,819 from the Florida Department of Transportation to construct intersection safety improvements at Gunnery Road and 8^th Street S.W.

BACKGROUND AND IMPLICATIONS OF ACTION

	A)	Board Action and Other History
		Lee County DOT applied for and was awarded safety funds for intersection improvements at the intersection of Gunnery Road and 8^th Street S.W. On February 12, 2013 DOT began design of the improvements which consist of converting the intersection from stop sign control to a traffic signal with turn lanes and widening. Design is reaching 100% and construction should be underway during the Fall of 2018. Construction and Construction inspection are expected to cost $1,500,000, the grant is covering $1,224,819 and the additional funding is budgeted using gas taxes. These funds were anticipated and budgeted for; no budget adjustments are needed.
